You see it all the time on eBay and others, someone low balling a price and making up the difference on the shipping charge! This is not a fair representation of an items true value and is causing a downward spiral in pricing. The method PPG uses to calculate value is awful and a detriment to the hobby and collectors. Anything they profess to be improving won’t matter, till this flawed system is fixed.

apples to oranges. if something is valued at 120. someone ain’t buying that from someone who has a 30 dollar shipping fee on there. then for the buyer they just payed 150. so if someone is going to put something on there for 90 but with a 30 dollar shipping cost then it’s not an overpay. plus one low sales taints ppgs value when it only sold for that low bc of the high shipping cost

PPGs value system will then drop the value to say 90 to 95 all bc of that one sale when actually the only reason it sold for that low was bc of the 30 dollar shipping. so yea it does need to be factored in.

I don’t consider shipping in the total value. Considering the alternative would be I had to buy a plane ticket or drive there shipping is doing me a favor. I also don’t consider taxes because some states happening in some states don’t.

If we started to add shipping costs and somebody in Argentina is willing to pay $40 shipping as they cannot get the product locally that would distort the value of the item. Shipping and tax are ancillary costs that you know about and that are based on your location (Zillow does not add your realtor costs, lawyer fees or real estate taxes for that reason). And to be fair we would otherwise also have to add the costs of fuel and other costs associated with car ownership if somebody drives to Target to buy a Pop. And even if we did add sales tax it wouldn’t work – if you live in Arab, Georgia the local sales tax is 16% while there are places like Alaska where sales tax is under 2%.

That is true, tax is almost 10% and shipping is another $10+ for higher end pops, people on facebook literally law ball you because the PPG “average” doesn’t reflect those two costs
