We decided to take a look at the most valuable Dorbz figures found on Pop Price Guide and what we discovered left us plenty to smile about Funko’s collaboration with Vinyl Sugar. Basically, if you were able to score one of these three-inch tall cuties at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con…then you also have a reason to grin.

Like no comic creator before him, he became a celebrity in his own right, making frequent appearances in those comics, movies and shows. He showed up as himself, and as a slightly exaggerated version of himself, and as other characters fictional and real (Hugh Hefner in Iron Man!) He could be simultaneously self-deprecating and slightly pompous, always on brand, but always engaging.

And like any great character, he also was recreated in miniature collectible form, several times over.

Stan Lee appeared as himself on an episode of The Simpsons, or at least a slightly pompous overly confident version of himself. As such, he was immortalized as a yellow action figure. Lee was actually an easy person to caricature, because he had a distinct look and fashion sense, and that look basically didn’t change much over the last 40 years of his life.

Hot Toys created a hyper-realistic 12-inch figure of Lee, complete with director’s chair (right). You can almost hear him promoting his next film as you gaze upon the incredibly real textures.

Funko has had lots of fun with Lee, in several guises. The most prevalent would be his Pop! figures, representing just about every MCU cameo he’s ever made. And a few versions wearing a superhero outfit complete with cape. Throw in several versions created just for individual conventions and events (he’s usually tearing his shirt open to show the event logo), and there are at about 30 different variants to collect.

He also shows up in the Funko Vinyl Idolz series, as a tall, bug-eyed version of his normal self. And as a Dorbz character, a short, round, close-eyed variant. Just to cover all the bases.

Finally, being a man of great taste, Lee even became a Pez dispenser just a few months before he died. As someone who dispensed of colorful comics and films over the years, it seems like a fitting final appearance.

2003

Funko’s first time to the con, and they only brought one item with them that year. A very stylish El Diablo wacky wobbler in a Purple Suit. Limited to 666 pieces.

2004

Funko’s Spastik Plastik line was the rage in their grocery theme booth in 2004. But instead of octopi on the menu, the most valuable item from the year is a Glow in the Dark version of Juan.

2005

Another Spastik Plastik tops the list in ’05. This time it is Carlos sporting his Comic Con exclusive black Suit. The version with a Visor is the more desirable.

2006

The first non-original creation from Funko and the first of 3 times the Huckleberry Hound appears in our list makes him the King of SDCC. In 2006 it was a Black and White Wacky Wobbler that topped the list.

2007

The Banana Splits mark the only appearance of a multipack on list. These guys are ready to rock in bright neon colors.

2008

Ready to gobbler up the sweet treats, the purple metallic Sleestak Pez wacky wobbler comes out on top in 2008.

2009

Huckleberry Hound wacky wobbler is back. This time it is a metallic dark blue that has the collectors hunting. This year also marks the last time that the Wacky Wobbler reigns supreme.

2010

POP!s were introduced to the world at SDCC this year. The glow in the dark Green Lantern is the most desired of the original set of figures.

2011

The superhero theme continues, this time he is from Pixar’s The Incredibles. Mr. Incredible sported his retro blue super suit this year.

2012

Star Wars makes its only appearance on our list in the shape of a holographic Darth Maul POP! figure.

2013

Dumbo in his circus clown make up marks the high point of list. Currently valued at over $4,000 it is almost enough to make an elephant fly.

2014

Back for his third appearance is Huckleberry Hound. To mark the launch of Hanna-Barbera POP! figures, Funko had a rainbow selection of Huckleberry’s available. The Pink version currently sits atop the list but a few other colors are close behind.

2015

An unmasked Jason Voorhees slashed his way to the top of the pile in a crowded 2015 convention.

2016

The only Dorbz to earn a place on the list is the mega 18 inch tall Captain America. Released to celebrates Cap’s 75th anniversary towers over the regular sized Dorbz in both scale and price.

2017

Starting the whole chroming craze, the Blue Chrome Batman has been replicated many times since but hasn’t yet been passed.

Dorbz: Horror – Pennywise

If any form of Pennywise is going to climb up and out of the sewers, we’re really hoping it’s Funko’s new Dorbz versions of the horrendous villain from Stephen King’s “IT.”

Pennywise (Smile) and Pennywise (Wrought Iron) are just his second and third Dorbz figure – which is far fewer than his nine Pop! figures.

The Dorbz duo is expected out this autumn.

Pop Keychain: Horror – Pennywise/Elvira

Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, and Pennywise, the denizen of the sewer, each make their Pocket Pop! Keychain: Horror debut later this year.

Pennywise arrives in three classic Pop! figure form, including with Balloon, Wig and Spider Legs.

Expect Pennywise to start terrorizing keys this fall, while Elvira slips out of the darkness and into your purse or pants pocket in August – including a red-dressed Hot Topic variant.

Jaga the Wise receives his second Dorbz treatment, this time appearing in a translucent blue spirit form.

The Thundercats elder is part of a 2,500-piece set that is available exclusively via Funko Shop.

The former wants to be the master of the universe, while the latter is looking to master the multiverse.

Combined, they’re the two latest releases in Funko’s Specialty Series.

This is the second appearance in the Funko catalog for He-Man nemesis Evil-Lyn, who takes on Rock Candy form.

Rick and Morty, however, are no strangers to Funko’s extensive collection. Their pickled fingerprints cover just about all of Funko’s genres.

The Adult Swim tandem returns, this time throwing police uniforms over their Dorbz bodies to create a Specialty Series 2-pack.

Both items are a part of Funko’s efforts to support small businesses. Look for Dorbz: Rick and Morty – Police Rick and Morty (2-Pack) and Rock Candy: Masters of the Universe – Evil-Lyn exclusively via local comic shops, boutique retail outlets and qualified online shops this summer.

• A Super Pets 2-pack will see Krypto and Ace be made into Dorbz. This set is limited to 2000 pieces.
• You can’t have a DC announcement without the main man himself. Batman will be available in a shiny Emerald Chrome variant, limited to 1500 pieces.

Other Stuff:

• Elmer Fudd is ready for his final bow in his viking outfit Dorbz. He is limited to just 1000 pieces.
• Cagney Carnation is ready to cause trouble for Cuphead and Mug Man.
