Back in October, when Entertainment Earth announced their exclusive Justice League silhouette Pops, the series was met with mixed feelings. The silhouette images of the Justice League have always been iconic, but would they translate well in 3-D form? I admit, I was on the fence about them and figured I’d either love them or hate them. Now that they’re in hand, I love them! These Pops are definitely best for out of box collectors, as they make a super cool display freed from their cardboard prisons and lined up together.

In terms of the glow-in-the-dark feature, I did find it a bit odd that they all glow in green, while Cyborg glows in blue. With minimal areas glowing, it doesn’t create a blinding display in the dark, though the character symbols are admittedly super cool in glow phase. And Cyborg…that dude SHINES. The blue glow of the left half of his cranium is enough to light up the area around him, as is evident in the images below.

And speaking of images, let’s just get on with that and let you enjoy them! When you’re done and if you like what you see, these are in stock at Entertainment Earth!

Arrow Pops 01

It’s that time again – another Pop review from PPG! Today I’m thrilled to be showcasing the Pops from the hit CW show, Arrow. This show has been a favorite of mine since episode number one, and with season three just coming to a close, what better time to show off these miniaturized, stylized versions of the characters from the show. Looking at the back of the box, you’ll see a slew of characters – Oliver Queen, The Arrow, The Arrow: Unmasked, Black Canary, Deathstroke, Deathstroke: Unmasked, and John Diggle. Before I get into the pics of the four that have been released (Ollie, Arrow, Canary, Deathstroke), I will express a little disappointment in the different Arrow variants. Using the same body for four figures, including Diggle, is a pretty cheap move on Funko’s part. They could have very easily made a Diggle in street clothes and an Ollie in street clothes (or suit, or whatever), and make the line a bit more diverse. Plus…where is Arsenal? And the rest of the villains. We can only hope we’ll see more of those later. Anyway, on to the pics and a few notes.

The Arrow

The titular character, Stephen Amell’s vigilante hero is a really nice figure in Pop form. Nice detail on the outfit and the bow, and the low-laying hood makes for some nice natural shadows, giving the character its necessary dark appearance.

Oliver Queen

The alter ego of the show’s hero, this is the exact same body as The Arrow, but without the hood.

Black Canary

I’ve been waiting for a Black Canary Pop since 2010! This might not be the fishnetted comic version, but it’s a great version of Sara Lance as the Canary. At least I assume it’s Sara, since the series seems to be focusing on characters from earlier episodes, and in this case, she probably should have just been called “Canary”. (I know…fanboy nitpick) Good detail on the outfit, but she’s fitted with an extraordinarily long neck.

Deathstroke

The villain we waited to see in full uniform since the first couple of episodes, this Deathstroke is the real gem of the line. Slade Wilson’s orange and blue clad soldier has great detail in the armor, and a wonderful contrast between the dark and light colors, with the vibrant orange grabbing your attention immediately.

Huge thanks to Entertainment Earth for providing these figures for our review. All four of these are currently available, either In Stock or with a May preorder, meaning they’ll be back in stock at any time. As always, EE offers free shipping on in stock orders of $79 or more, and doesn’t charge on preorders until the items have shipped.

Big Trouble in Little China Pops 04

I’m pleased to post another mini Pop review, again thanks to the generosity of Entertainment Earth. This time I’ll be taking a look at the sextet of Pop! Movie figures released from the 1986 Kurt Russell movie, Big Trouble in Little China. This series of Pops includes Jack Burton, Gracie Law, Lo Pan, and the trio Thunder, Lightning and Rain. They appear in the Pop! Movies line and are numbered #151-156.

Big Trouble in Little China Pops 01

Jack Burton

Kurt Russell’s character, Jack Burton, is the hero and badass of this movie. He is easily the least-detailed of the bunch, but Funko has made a fun Pop of the character, including the detailed artwork of his t-shirt.

Gracie Law

Gracie Law was played by the then-sexy Kim Cattrall, and Funko has made a stunning, detailed Pop of her character in her red attire. Her ornate headdress is a very striking green and gold, with fine detail put into the design. The eye shadow and beauty mark do a fine job of capturing this character’s essence.

Lo Pan

Lo Pan’s introduction into the Pop line adds another one of the cool villains in cinematic history, and the dark tones mixed with the gold trim and headdress really make it an eye-popping figure. Even better will be the addition of the exclusive Glow in the Dark Ghost of Lo Pan Pop, due to hit in June.

Big Trouble in Little China Pops 02

Lightning, Rain & Thunder

I’ve heard people bitch about how these three figures are “pretty much identical”. BS, I say! Yeah, their heads are the same sculpt, but the details on the uniforms and weapons of choice are far different between the three. They complement each other very well, and with their large hats they are quite heavy for normal-sized Pops.

Lightning

Rain

Thunder

This is a super cool set of figures, and a must-have for those of us that enjoy 80s movies as much as I do. Entertainment Earth has all six of these available, either In Stock or ready to be ordered (labeled as Temporarily Out of Stock). As always, EE offers free shipping on in stock orders of $79 or more, and doesn’t charge on preorders until the items have shipped.

Thanks to the generosity of Entertainment Earth, I have a few random Pops to review. I started thinking, though…why stop there? So, going forward, I will periodically pick four random Pop Vinyl figures that have been somewhat recently released and give them each a mini review with photos. To get things started, I have a selection from Games, Marvel, and Movies!

Sackboy 01

SACKBOY

Sackboy is #26 in the Pop! Games series, and is the face of the game series Little Big Planet. Pops are known for offering stylized versions of your favorite characters from movies, games, etc., which is great, but also doesn’t lend a lot of faithfulness to the portrayal of the character at times. Sackboy is one of the rare figures where the Pop is actually a really good representation of the character outside of the Pop stylization.

Sauron 01

SAURON

Back to the thought about offering faithful character representations, Sauron from the Lord of the Rings trilogy might be the farthest from it! But hey, that’s what’s so fun about this line – let’s take the most intimidating characters in pop culture and make them adorable. Sauron could have been a bit taller, but despite this he’s quickly becoming one of my favorites. The detail on the figure is absolutely amazing, with intricate details etched into his armor. Sauron is #122 in the Pop! Movies series.

Thrall 01

THRALL

I’ve never played any World of Warcraft games, but the characters have always intrigued me. Thrall is a hulking Orc leader from the popular game series and #31 in the Pop! Games series. The intimidating, green-skinned Thrall features gold and black armor with excellent detail, as well as an engraved hammer.

X-Men Deadpool 01

X-MEN DEADPOOL

Wait a sec…Deadpool wore an X-Men uniform? Is this just another excuse to make another Deadpool variation? Deadpool did in fact wear the famed blue and yellow X-Men colors for a very brief period of time, which Funko has taken advantage of for another Deadpool version. This is the exact same sculpt seen in the other Deadpool versions. But we can never get enough of the chimichanga-eating wacko…right?

Like these figures? If so, please visit Entertainment Earth via the links below! This helps support our sponsors as well as the Pop Price Guide!
