Only this time, it’s Grail Monster finding a new home for one of the rarest Funko items ever.

The Willy Wonka Golden Ticket (2-Pack) has been sold for an eye-popping $210,000, thus thoroughly retaining its title as the most-valuable Funko Pop! in existence.

The lucky new owner is eVend, a giant retailer specializing in hard-to-find collectibles. You’ll find them in North Carolina in a 1 million-square-foot facility that’s chocked full of items such as Funko, FiGPiN and Lego, and lots more.

And now it’s home to the Golden Ticket (2-Pack), a Pop! that features Willy Wonka and Oompa Loompa figures, as well as an actual Golden Ticket. Only 10 are known to have been produced and most have never been located.

eVend has yet to officially announce any future plans for the Golden Ticket. Grail Monster, however, has hinted that the most-valuable Pop! ever could be placed in and sold as a mystery box. More details to come!

PPG member Grail Monster made history back in May of 2022 when he purchased the Golden Ticket for $100,000 – which was a record at the time for the most ever paid for a Funko Pop!.

Grail Monster also made headlines in September, this time with a $43,000 purchase of Freddy Funko as Iron Man (Metallic). That sale marked the most-ever paid for a Freddy Funko. Read more on that sale here.

The recent $60,000 sale of Clockwork Orange (Glow in the Dark) makes it the second-most ever paid for a Funko item and the most ever doled out for an individual Pop! figure.

The sale went down in November and has since been authenticated by the Pop Price Guide Verification Team. The Pop! is one of just 24 made (12 of them Chase pieces) that survived after some legal wrangling shut down the planned original production in 2012.

It’s now the second highest amount ever paid for a Funko collectible, behind the Willy Wonka Golden Ticket 2-Pack, which was purchased in May of 2022 for $100,000 by PPG Shareholder GrailMonster.

GrailMonster wasn’t done there, adding Freddy Funko as Tony Stark (Metallic) for $43,000 – the previous record for an individual Pop!

Lucky holders of the Golden Ticket in 2016 at San Diego Comic-Con’s Funko Fundays were awarded the Golden Ticket 2-Pack, a set that is so exclusive, only four are believed to have been released to the public.

The remaining six of the 10 Golden Ticket 2-Packs originally created were rumored to have been given to employees or friends of the company.

The golden Pop! combo set a record in the spring of 2022, with a private sale of 100K by PPG shareholder GrailMonster. Read more about that sale here!

The Other Golden Ticket

It turns out, that wasn’t Funko’s only Golden Ticket promotion. Two years earlier at the 2014 New York Comic-Con, Funko issued exclusive Toy Tokyo X MINDStyle Golden Tickets.

It has us wondering…is 2022 the year of Funko?

We’ve been examining trends of estimated values between now and a year ago and have noticed a stark uptick in valuations of higher end items.

We’re talking about collectibles with limited editions of fewer than 1,000 items. We know these items have historically risen in value, but the last 12 months have been especially favorable for the higher end Funko collector.

All told, the Top-10 most valuable Funko Pop! figures on PPG saw a median increase in estimated value of an eye-popping 382 percent!

Boom Go the Pop!s

We can’t say for certain what caused the influx of higher end sales.

We know other markets, such as trading cards and sneaker collecting, have experienced similar booms but have recently been in decline – possibly bringing in new collectors and traders.

Perhaps the pandemic played a role. A new generation of collectors could also be entering the market. Or our advanced age of social media, etc., is allowing these sales to be more public.

It’s possible higher end items began garnering more attention after the 100K purchase of the Golden Ticket (2-pack) by PPG shareholder GrailMonster in the Spring. Or it was us highlighting that historic sale and other high end transactions.

The true reason is likely a confluence of all of the above or a result of something we don’t even know to look for, yet.

Whatever the cause, the numbers don’t lie.

Save for one Pop! (Freddy Funko as V), the rest of the Top-10 saw their estimated values raise anywhere from 75 to 1,088 percent within the last year alone.

PPG Verification Squad

We’re looking to do our due diligence when it comes to documenting higher end sales. That’s courtesy of our Verification Squad, our trusted team of a dozen experts that thoroughly vet each sale over $1,000.

It’s a lot of work, but the result is a reliable feature for chronicling higher end sales that we have lacked until now.

The issue with tracking high end values on PPG is that sales of this magnitude traditionally take place in private and away from the likes of eBay and Mercari, et al. Not to mention that most of these sales happened years ago.

That is because there are just too many fakes out there and, as we all know, condition is so super important (hold your horses, we are also working on a scheme to make these sales safer).

For example, prior to GrailMonster’s $100K Willy Wonka purchase, the last documented sale of the Golden Ticket 2-pack was $15,000 and took place a half decade ago.

Calculations of Estimated Values are conservative and utilize all data, and take more than just the last Price Point into account (hence why the Golden Ticket is not just $100K).

Our Verification Team also added a pair of values this summer for Freddy Funko as Tony Stark (Metallic) at $43,000 and $37,000. Before then, our last documented sale of the Pop! with a limited edition of just 12 was $3,500 and occurred in May of 2016.

The Team operates discreetly and as safely as possible in a very private space to protect both buyer and seller. We never disclose private info.

It’s thanks to this team that we’re able to stay current and accurate. But there’s lots of work to be done.

When it comes to collecting Funko Pop! figures, owning a Golden Ticket is something straight from a world of imagination.

That dream just became a reality for Pop Price Guide shareholder and contributor GrailMonster, who just purchased one of Funko’s holiest of grails.

And he does so in record-setting fashion with (what we believe) is the most ever paid for a Funko Pop!

The epic deal went down on Thursday at Chalice Collectibles in Glendale, Calif., when GrailMonster purchased the ultra-rare Golden Ticket – 2 Pack from a private seller.

The price? A cool $100,000.

Golden Ticket 2-Pack

This rare Funko Pop! features Willy Wonka and an Oompa-Loompa fashioned entirely in gold. Funko produced only 10 of them in 2016 and awarded the 2-pack solely to fans who discovered the elusive Golden Ticket at the 2016 San Diego Comic Con.

Funko was founded in 1998 and quickly gained a strong footing in the annual $500 billion FanMerch market. In recent years, interest in older Funko items and limited runs (500 pieces or fewer) have increased with some sales reaching upward of $30,000.

The purchase of the Golden Ticket – 2 Pack for $100,000, however, obliterates the mold.
