On our quest to continue to make your collecting experience better, we’re excited to share that we’ll be launching our next Premium Feature, the ability to trade next week!

Now, when it comes to trading, we know reputation and trust are essential to having a good experience. That’s why as a first step, we’ve built the ability for our members to vouch for each other. Instead of using traditional feedback (that happens when you make a purchase on the marketplace), you will now see a new section on your Showcase that says Vouched By.

Here is how it looks –

The Showcase now has many trust indicators  –

  1. The new Vouched by (i.e. Paul is just the best, you can check his Vouches here)
  2. Feedback on PPG/hobbyDB transactions as Buyer or Seller
  3. How many Likes a Member has
  4. An introduction written by the Member
  5. Location and Member-since-date (also helps to meet up, a local member search is planned)
  6. The Member’s Collection
  7. The Member’s contributions to PPG/hobbyDB

If you want to vouch for another Member, just find them in the Member Directory, click on their Showcase, then on Vouched By, and type away!  The receiving Member then just needs to accept it (but can also delete it to be on the safe side).  Have an awesome reputation? Feel free to share your Vouched By page in a forum or Facebook conversation when talking about a trade or purchase. Vouches will always show to all members, so share away!

hobbyDB Premium is a new offering that helps enhance your collecting experience while supporting hobbyDB as a whole. Prices start at as little as $2.50 a month and you’ll enjoy no ads, your Showcase including the value of your collection and your Top Ten, unlimited selling and trading with zero hobbyDB fees and much more. Check it out here.

Everyone meet Alex Schiffman! Or should we say Bartking129? Alex is a diehard Funko collector with quite the collection. So we’re thrilled to share with you Alex’s Top-10 Faves!

Over to you, Alex!

I started in 2016. I started with four, which has now turned into 4,000.

My very first Chase was the Freddy Krueger Chase.

And here my first proto, Jake Portman. I absolutely love this one because it was the start of the prototype collection I have today.

Then I have my favorite TV show The Simpsons. I love Bart Simpson, so it was natural I add his voice actress Nancy Cartwright to my collection.

Then we have my favorite Disney character Donald Duck out of the Fab 5, so it was only natural to add his voice actor to the original Donald, making him the most expensive signed piece in my collection.

Then my very first Funko Soda in the collection. I started collecting Soda back when they came out. The very first Soda I added to my collection was Yummy Mummy and I pulled the Chase.

Then we have my favorite Freddy Funko in the collection, the Dynamic Duo Robin Chase. I got him when Funko did their event when they traveled across the united states called Fun on the Run, luckily Tucson, Arizona, was one of the stops on their adventure.

Then we have my oldest funko product in my collection, the Burger King Funko Force prototype, also one of my rarest pieces in my collection.

Then I have my favorite anime Demon Slayer. I started collecting Demon Slayer in the middle of the set release. What better way to represent the set then have one of the voice actors.

Then I have the rarest numbered piece in my collection. NFTS have specific cards that go with them. Rocko is No. 5 out of 999. I started collecting NFTS because my favorite set is Pop! Retro Toys, so I set out to add low mints to the collection.

I love Retro because they are the toys my Dad played with when he was little, like G.I. Joe and Transformers.

The final thing I want to close with is a thank you to my Mom and Dad for helping me with my collecting journey. I wouldn’t have the collection I have today without their help.

It’s amazing how quickly a collection can grow in size. Just ask Matt Baugher, aka hobbyDB member captnfunko, who has seen his collection expand like giant Antman after setting his eyes on his first Funko Pop!

Matt takes us through his impressive collection, which you can check out here via the captnfunko Showcase.

Want to have your collection featured? Message us at support@hobbydb.com!

Over to you, captnfunko!

What was your first Funko Pop! and when / how did you get it?

I actually bought two for my first time they were Emma Frost #184 and Cable #177 from the X-men. Got them on eBay!

What got you hooked?

How did I get hooked, you ask? I’ve actually never had a hobby until collecting Funko Pops! I was just supposed to collect the X-men so much for that!

How big would you estimate your collection is?

My collection is nearly at $23,000 according to the database. Geez that’s a lot when I say it out loud!!

Is there a specific line of Pop!s that you collect?

I only collect Marvel and DC, that is my fandom. Once upon a time I was collecting AD Icons but my bank account was like hey bro what are you doing lol.

What’s your favorite Pop!?

My favorite regular size Pop! would be Cosmic Ghost Rider #518. Now, my favorite 10-inch is Giant Man 414. Who doesn’t love ant man?

What’s your most valuable Pop!?

My most valuable Pop! at the moment is Iron Man (The Avengers) #11.

What’s a Pop! that your collection is missing?

A Pop! that I’m missing from my collection? I’ve been trying to get my hands on the 18-inch Flocked Groot. Also, the Superman 10-inch Chase #159. Man what a beauty!

What do you consider your grail and do you own it?

I honestly don’t consider anything I have a “grail” yet. But I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on Freddy Funko #12. I would definitely consider that a “grail.”

Why collect Funko?

Why collect Funko? People ask me that all the time. It’s the joy that I get going with my fiancée to look at all the stores trying to find a Chase. Going to comic conventions and getting our Funkos autographed. Funko has just been a big part of my life for the past five years.

Do you also collect non-Funko items? If so, what?

I also collect comic books, which started about two years ago. It’s starting to get pretty big as well. This house is starting to look pretty small lol.

Thank you, captnfunko! Click the image below to view the captnfunko Showcase on hobbyDB!

With more than two decades of collecting under his belt, Pop Price Guide member chadwill is beginning to run out of space for it all!

For this PPG member of six years, it was love at first sight with the confluence of Funko and the television series “Supernatural.”

Today, chadwill takes us on a tour of his super collection as part of our latest Collector Showcase! Check out the chadwill PPG Showcase here!

Over to you, chadwill!!

What was your first Funko Pop! and what got you hooked?

I started collecting in 2000. Mainly Star Wars and Marvel Legends. I collected mostly variants and exclusive Star Wars figures and the same with Marvel Legends Toybiz line. I slowed down collecting for a little bit and one day I walk into Hot Topic and see my favorite television shows, Supernatural, characters and that’s how I started collecting Funko’s.

How big would you estimate your collection is?

I have almost all of the Supernatural characters. The rest of my Funko’s are all exclusive, limited, numbered or convention figures. All of them have an exclusive sticker of some type. My collection consists of 1,958 Funko Pop!s, Minis, Pint Size, Soda’s and a few Dorbz.

My Funkos are currently valued at a little over $35,000 according to Pop Price Guide. I have an entire room that I’m in the process of displaying my collection. ALL my figures are unopened in-box. I don’t collect out-of-box. I buy protectors for all my figures and have them currently displayed in my room, my closet and the spare bedroom that I’m working on where everything will eventually go. I’m in need of shelving, I have many high dollar figures that deserve a glass case.

collector showcase

Is there a specific line of Pop!s that you collect?

My favorite figures are from the Supernatural line. Like I said before, I have every Supernatural Pop! and Mini Funko has made, including the exclusive Mini of Dean (Gym Teacher) and Bloody Castiel, the HMV exclusive 2-pack of Sam and Dean and Sam and Dean both in Baby.

What’s your most valuable Pop!?

I have quite a few high dollar Pop!s. Currently my grail is, Hollow Ichigo GameStop exclusive from their Anime day. It’s currently valued at $530. Any Pop! I have that is $100 or more I put them in Hard Stacks.

What’s a Pop! that your collection is missing?

I need three Pop!s to complete my Supernatural collection. They are the NYCC and SDCC exclusive 3-pack of Sam, Dean and Crowley and lastly the Hot Topic exclusive Sam in FBI Uniform.

collector showcase

What do you consider your grail and do you own it?

Currently my grail is, Hollow Ichigo GameStop exclusive from their Anime day. It’s currently valued at $530. Any Pop! I have that is $100.00 or more I put them in Hard Stacks.

collector showcase

Why collect Funko?

The reason I collect Funko is the selection and of course the thrill of the hunt. I get such a thrill when I find a chase in the wild. But I am picky about my boxes. I have walked away from many exclusives and chases because of a damaged box.

Thanks, chadwill!! Looks great!

There are collections…and then there are collections. And very few of them rival that of hptoolhead’s.

A lover of pop culture, with a particular eye on Funko and beyond, hptoolhead – who asked to remain anonymous – has reached an impressive hobbyDB / Pop Price Guide milestone.

With several recent additions, she now has more than 4,200 items in her collection with an eye-popping estimated hobbyDB value of $92,083!

Need to see for yourself? Click on the hptoolhead avatar to see it!

Where hptoolhead is truly invaluable, however, is as a super-duper, mega-awesome member of the hobbyDB Squad. (Click the link to see how you can join!)

Her many Squad roles and accomplishments include Champion, Curator and Creator badges, as well as serving as a member of the Flag Squad and “The Untouchables,” our group dedicated to spotting and documenting fake items.

The real question is, which Squad badges hasn’t she earned? And her Squad stats are equally as impressive as her collection.

As if 2,754 items verified, 2,139 database items added and 1,480 subjects verified wasn’t already tremendous, she’s also assigned more than 61,000 price points.

Everyone say thank you, hptoolhead!

We could go on for hours, but we’d prefer to have her take you through her journey into collecting.

Over to you, hptoolhead!

The first Funkos I bought were the Mini Wacky Wobblers that were mash-ups of Star Wars and Universal Monsters that I got from Toys ‘R’ Us in 2015.

Next came a gift from my roommate of an Alex DeLarge Pop! for my birthday since he knew of my love for “A Clockwork Orange.” Not too long after that came the Tim the Enchanter and Gogo Yubari Pop!s that I found in my favorite neighborhood convenience store and things kinda blew up from there.

The Pop Price Guide database shows I’ve been a member since Sept. 2017 but that was the date of my first purchase through the database. Started using PPG for about a year and a half before that because it was easier using PPG than the spreadsheets that I initially set up to keep up with my collection.

I’ve been a collector of assorted things for most of my life. Things I have that aren’t yet entered into hobbyDB:

  • Over 3,000 vinyl and shellac records dating from the 1930s to current
  • McFarlane Spawn figures series 1-16 and a mixture of other McFarlane figures
  • Series 1-6 Garbage Pail Kids stickers
  • Tokidoki Unicorno and Mermicorno figures
  • Living Dead Dolls mini figures with one full size LDD
  • Variety of art including pieces by Csaba Markus, Josephine Wall, Billy Butcher, Norman Rockwell and others
  • Hundreds of DVDs and CDs

I’m now a hobbyDB coordinator, an Untouchable who’s on the team that Verifies Transactions, and have been resolving flags long enough that I’ve gotten through over 9,000 of them.

My Faves

My fave Funkos are probably the ones I have custom painted. All started when I would be on the hunt for new Funkos and I would see something and think it would look so much better if it glowed in the dark or was metallic or (gasp!) both.

Sometimes a piece is released as a glow in the dark but it just needs so much more glow. I can do that! Even got myself some glow in the dark stickers to use as needed. 🙂

The banner on my showcase shows some of the first I painted. As time passed, I ended up with enough custom painted pieces to fill a shelf, so I did. This was my first custom shelf and everything there has some degree of personalization.

The one I’m working on now – D&D Vecna with metallic eyes and robe and the eyes will soon glow red too.

Grails!

As far as a grail, here’s something that meets my definition as well as stays with The Grail theme.

Last year, I had the opportunity to see Neil Gaiman (one of my absolute favorite living authors) speak. What made it so amazing for me, besides being in the same space with someone I have admired for so long, was one of the readings of his works he did that night was of my absolute favorite short story of his – Chivalry.

While there was the option to purchase autographed books at the show (I got Art Matters, Anansi Boys, Trigger Warning, and Good Omens before running out of money), they didn’t have (and I didn’t even know it existed at that time) a copy of Chivalry. Cut to a few months later and the tiny book store in Woodstock, NY near where Gaiman has a house offered autographed books.

That’s when I found and purchased what is pictured below – a hardback copy of my favorite short story, autographed by my favorite author.

It’s certainly not my most valuable piece, but is definitely one of my most loved.

Thank you, hptoolhead!! Check out this amazing collage of her collection!!

When it comes to collecting Funko Pop!s, it’s the flocked figures that make Randy Kubek feel warm and fuzzy.

Randy, aka Dirty_duck_sales, shows off his impressive collection, which includes ALMOST every Flocked Funko Pop! ever made!

Would you like to see your collection featured? Message us at support@hobbydb.com!

Over to you, Randy!

What was your first Funko Pop! and when / how did you get it?

Actually my first three Funko Pop!s were Captain Spaulding, Pennywise and Hannibal Lecter. I bought all three at Hot Topic when they first came out in 2014.

What got you hooked?

When I bought my first ones I thought they were cool and was a fan of the character Captain Spaulding in The Devil’s Rejects. Then I just started collecting any that I thought were cool looking.

How big would you estimate your collection is?

If I had to guess I’d say around 600 total Funko Pop!s. At one point I probably had over 1,000.

What makes Flocked Pop!s the best?

I’m not going to say flocked Pop!s are the best, they are something I found interesting and sort of a “special edition” of other Pop!s.

How many Flocked Pop!s do you own?

Currently I own 249 flocked Pop!s which eight of those are custom. I also have one on the way.

What’s your favorite Flocked Pop!?

It’s hard to choose a favorite flocked Pop! but if I had to I’d say Ralphie in the Bunny Suit.

What’s your most valuable Flocked Pop!?

2011 San Diego Comic Con flocked Chewbacca.

What’s a Flocked Pop! that your collection is missing?

If my calculations are correct I am only missing five flocked Pop!s to own all of them that have been made. But they are 18-inch Groot, Gizmo VHS Cover, Niffler and both Baby Milo prototype flocked Pop!s.

What do you consider your grail and do you own it?

A major grail for me is Garruk Wildspeaker PAX exclusive. I do own it and it took a few years to find one in near mint condition. My other grails would be the Baby Milo flocked Pop!s and currently looking for them.

Why collect Funko?

I have had many different hobbies, including collecting sports cards, car audio and off roading. Collecting Funko Pop!s I am able to collect characters I find interesting and at some point there would be a return on them if I were to sell them. I chose to concentrate on flocked Pop!s because you see a lot of people collect different genres like Disney, DC, and Marvel just to make a few.

Thanks, Randy!

Over to you Swdaddy!

When did you start collecting? What got you hooked?

I started collecting over six years ago in 2016. I was shopping for comic books on Amazon and my searches pulled up some Funko Pops. That was it, boom I was hooked. Think I bought like 20 of them that day.

What was your first Funko Pop? How did you get it?

My first Pop I ordered I believe was Captain America and Spider-Man. Not positive as I bought a bunch the first day Lol.

What do you collect now? Do you also collect non-Funko items?

I collect Marvel, DC, G.I. Joe and Star Wars mostly. Besides Funko Pops I also collect action figures like Marvel Legends, McFarlane, DC, G.I. Joe Classified, Hot Toys and Star Wars Black Series. Also collect comic books.

How big would you estimate your collection is?

Funko Pops around 1,500. All figures/collectibles around 2,500.

What’s missing from your collection?

Many grails Lol. Some being Avengers Loki, Freddy Ghost Rider and many older Marvel, Star Wars and DC.

What do you consider your grail and do you own it?

Grail would be the first Pops from SDCC 2010 Green Lantern, Batman and Batgirl in the clam shells.

Why collect Funko?

Because it makes me happy. I love how they represent things I love and I love displaying them to be just surrounded by things that make me happy.

Thanks, Scott!!

Over to you Micpro101!

When did you start collecting? What got you hooked?

I started collecting in 2017. My first Funko was actually Baby Groot I found at Walmart and from there I just got hooked.

What do you collect now? Do you also collect non-Funko items?

I have a few non-Funko items that I do collect such as FiGPiN and Kenner Star Wars figures, but mostly Funkos. My collection is probably around 450 Pops, most of them being Iron Man.

What do you consider your grail and do you own it?

My personal grail is Metallic Freddy Stark LE12, which is the only Iron Man Pop I don’t have. One is up for sale for 45k tho . 😂

Why collect Funko?

I love collecting Funko because they have so many Pops for everyone, no matter what you like. They also, for the most part, fit nicely stacked together. Funko also is great with the Funko community, especially at Cons and Funko events.

For Heather Lash, aka Pop Price Guide user wdwprincess2199, a tour of her Funko collection is like a stroll down Disney’s Main Street, U.S.A.

From Belle to WALL-E, Heather takes us through her fabulous Disney fandom by kindly answering some questions about her collection and more.

That includes being among the first sellers in the Pop Price Guide / hobbyDB Marketplace to sell “lots” as part of our new bulk sale option.

Check out how you can sell a “lot” by following this link!

Over to you, Heather!

What was your first Funko Pop!?

My first two Funko Pop figures were Number 21, Belle, and Number 22 Beast, from Beauty and the Beast. I remember being upset that my Belle box was slightly damaged but realized I loved that pair so much, I wouldn’t ever sell them, so the box condition didn’t matter.

Disney

What was it about them that got you hooked?

I’m not a major collector. Originally I said I would only collect Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid Pops for sentimental reasons of them being childhood favorites. That then expanded to WALL-E (and adulthood favorite) and Disney Park Exclusives. It was so hard to get Disney parks exclusives for a while though, so I tried not to get caught up in the chaos.

Do you have a favorite?

One you’ll never give up? See above!! Even though I just sold all my Beauty and the Beast, I did not sell those original 2. I love them and they’re a great memory of the collection I once had.

Disney

How many did you have at the height of your collection?

Only a small collector here my peak was 73 but they were almost completely from just those four themes (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, WALL-E and Parks Exclusive).

Do you exclusively collect Disney items?

Yes, we’re a big Disney house. I met my husband on a Disney dating site and we were married at Walt Disney World, so it’s safe to say most of our collectibles are Disney or a Disney owned brand.

What else do you collect besides Funko?

Argh, this is hard. I’m not a set collector in anything else. I do have a number of Minnie/ Mickey ears and we have a lot of Disney art and Lego models. However I’m really sticking to my WALL-E Funko’s as my remaining collection these days. As a family we are board gamers though, and have a healthy collection of those.

You recently sold three collections on the PPG Marketplace, how would you describe that experience?

The selling process was a breeze, the whole team was perfectly communicative, the buyer was so clear with instructions and payment was made in a timely manner.

The team made selling a bulk collection easy and I felt like I was very supported as a seller in navigating the process. I would definitely go through this process again in the future if I had another collection to sell or if I was looking to buy as well.

Do you have any tips or advice for others looking to sell complete sets on PPG?

Keep your product lists in the database up-to-date. It made it so easy for me to share which items I was ready to sell as a group. The database is so easy to maintain as a user – and it shines even more when you’re selling, all the images are already there, the history etc. I made a point to keep my database up to date and it was worth the time I’d put into that, so when I did want to sell in bulk it was just a few clicks.

Thank you, Heather!

There’s nothing that Francisco Javier Serrano and his daughter Victoria love more than a good fright.

Well, other than their Funko collection that is.

Known as Pop Price Guide user FJaviserr, Serrano has brought his vast knowledge and passion for Funko to PPG as a contributor. So much so, that he’s helped assign more than 41,000 price listings in a short amount of time and is a regular all-star during our Price Listing Record Days.

Serrano was born in Spain, but has resided in Chile since 2010 where he earned the nickname Javier El Español (The Spaniard) from the other Chilean collectors and comic stores.

FJaviserr and Victoria are the latest PPG’ers to share their collection with us as part of our Pop Price Guide Collector Showcase.

How many Pop!s do you have in your collection?

I have around 1,300 items, including Pop!, Hikari, Wacky, Dorbz, Idolz, Vinyl Deluxe and autographed collectibles.

Freddy KruegerWhat type of Pop!s do you collect? What’s your favorite line of Pop! figures?

I collect everything that I love, that’s the magic of being a collector. However, my favorite line is Horror and Science Fiction Movies, which are my larger collection. My favorite Pops are Freddy Krueger (Chase GITD) and Glenn Bloody (Limited to 1,500 pieces) from The Walking Dead.

What and when was your first Pop!? How did you get it?

That was in May-June, 2015. It’s my love for Tim Burton films that led me to my first two Pop! figures with Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington. In fact, that day I was looking for another collectible, but I came back home with them. Some 1,300 items later the story goes on.

What is your Grail? Do you own it? If so, where is it displayed?

Although I have some, I’m still on the lookout for the Martian (Metallic) and Jason Voorhees (Unmasked). I know one day they will be in my collection, but there’s always room to add them, isn’t there?

What Pop! is your collection missing?

I’m missing three of the latest Pennywise, which is one of my favorites characters, I’m not sure but I think I have 27 different Pennywise variants. That’s crazy.

Why collect Pop! figures?

I have been collecting since I was 12, now I’m 43, but Funko blows my mind from the very first moment I saw Edward Scissorhands #17. It was love at first sight. But the reason that I’m a Funatic is that Funko brings to life a lot of characters that I think I´d never see as a collectible. But the most important reason to me, is I can share my hobby with my children as well.
