hobbyDB and Game X Change are partnering to trade the traditional ways of buying and selling your collection for an easier, sleeker and more modern approach.

Game X Change was founded in 1992 as a way for video game fans to buy, sell and trade games. Since then, GXC has expanded to more than 100 stores in 11 states and into the world of all-things-collectible from action figures to comics, diecast and beyond.

And now they’re growing as part of the hobbyDB Retail Network with the new ability to buy and sell Funko collections. GXC already has six of its stores offering Funko items for sale on the hobbyDB Marketplace, with more stores following soon. Give them a look here.

These Funko products can be –

• Bought online and shipped to the buyers
• Bought online and picked up in the store (so the customer can save postage and buy more in the store)
• Bought in the store and paid through the app

hobbyDB also simplifies the process of buying collections for Game X Change. The seller can share their collection with their local GXC store, which has all items, conditions and values. From there, GXC can make an offer for all or part of the collection.

If acceptable, the seller can then bring in the collection. This is removing the process of bringing an entire collection to the store without an offer, while also cutting wait times.

Jon Wilson, GXC’s Vice President of Store Operations explains “using hobbyDB makes buying and selling Funko Pop!s so much easier. We can even compare inventory levels in different stores and move items around. This is a sea change for us!”

GXC and hobbyDB plan to expand the partnership to action figures, diecast and other collectible segments.

1. Activity Stream on the App

See real-time notifications of new items from Brands or Designers you follow, significant value changes for items you own, new items from your favorite sellers and more on the App!

2. More hobbyDB Retail Network Shops!

As mentioned above, you’ll already find the first eight of our Brick & Mortar stores via the App as part of our hobbyDB Retail Network.

Access them by simply clicking the hobbyDB Retail Network button, locate your desired retailer from the list…then shop away. You can then have those items shipped to you or picked up at their location to save postage!

We’ll be adding hundreds of more shops to create a full-fledged network of retailers, first across the U.S. and then internationally.

3. Image Matching

We’ve all been there. We have an item or even a spare part, but we just don’t quite know its name or other important details. With our new Image Matching feature, you’ll be able to easily locate an item via the hobbyDB database.

4. Discussion pages

We will bring the ability to chat to other members on Database Items pages, Showcases, Brand pages and more!

Adding/Upgrading Your App

The hobbyDB / PPG App is currently available in both Android and iOS versions.

We released Version 4.0 for iOS yesterday and your phone should have updated overnight.

Our Android version is still on Version 3.5. We expect to release 4.0 at the end of November.

Known as the “Nation’s Largest Trading Card, Anime and Pop Culture Convention,” the event takes place between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Aug. 20 and 21 at the Long Beach Convention Center.

Those in attendance can peruse the booth’s of more than 500 vendors specializing in everything from sports cards, comic books and vintage toys to Funko, Pokemon and Magic: The Gathering – and so much more.

Among the sponsors are PSA, who will be in attendance offering on-site Funko Pop! encapsulation.

The event will feature close to 30 special guests ranging from influencers such as Dr. Applesauce (See the PPG Anti-Fake Coalition) to the voice of Goku Sean Schemmel and hip hop artist Vanilla Ice, to name a few.

We Don’t Give A Funko is so much more than the 4-inch vinyl figures that we buy/trade and sell. From the very beginning we have been focused on building a community, a safe place and a common ground for everyone to stand as equals.

It was decided that we were not going to make just another Facebook group. With the world being so focused on looking at differences we like to think our group can see individuality and embrace each other with open arms.

New groups are seen as allies that we can rally together with to build a community and make a “Funko Family.” For some collectors this is what helps them make it through each day, for others it’s a way to bond with their families or to pass down the art of appreciating the smaller things in life.

We are not only an online community, but we also have a public event once a month. Our Pop Swaps have grown exponentially since their inception and we see so many new faces each time.

The members are able to set up (free of charge) in a designated area collectibles, Pops and Loungefly items to sell.

This enables everyone to make memories with their families. We are truly privileged to have such gracious host Mr. Chad Lundy of Performance Supplements at 1135 N Recker Rd. Ste A-112, Mesa, AZ 85205. Also we cannot forget to mention the best food truck on the planet (in this writer’s opinion) Racks & Balls, they provide the fuel to make it through our day and they also happen to be Funko collectors!

Our admin team is dedicated to ensuring everyone has a safe and pleasant experience in our group, whether it be online or in person. Scott Brown created the group with input from his current admin team and has brought so much joy to our members through the auctions and pop swaps.

Each auction is packed with giveaways such as: additional Pops, movies, key chains, stickers etc. The auctions are used not only to get Pops at great deals, but also for our members to engage in playful banter and friendly competition. Many of our members bless each other by sometimes gifting the very Pop or giveaway they won to another member that seemed to have formed more of an attachment to that particular item.

Our members are truly selfless and it warms our hearts to see these acts of kindness. We hope that by experiencing this type of kindness it can be put back out into this world of uncertainty.
