When I started looking for sellers to join us on the new PPG Marketplace, I had a few names in mind thanks to my involvement on some great Facebook groups. One of these was LDW Collectibles, owned and operated by Louis Woodard. LDW came on as our first Funko-centric seller, currently has the largest inventory in our Marketplace, and has been integral in providing early feedback and suggestions to make the Marketplace a better experience for everyone. Recently, we had a quick Q&A with the man himself, Louis Woodard.
PPG: Tell me a little about yourself and what got you into collecting.
LDW: I started collecting Pops late in the year in 2015. My girlfriend and I were walking around the mall and stopped at Hot Topic. I had never seen a Pop before then.
PPG: What was your first Funko item?
LDW: Anger (from Inside Out) Pop.
PPG: Do you have a favorite line? Or a line you would like to see?
LDW: My favorite series to collect is Iron Man, I have all the Iron Man Pops, Dorbz, and Minis.
PPG: What are your favorite Top 5 untouchable items in your collection?
LDW: Unmasked Tony Stark, Big Boy, Tony The Tiger, Beatles (all), Michael Jackson (all).
PPG: Do you collect anything besides Funko?
LDW: I collect Reds baseball memorabilia.
PPG: What is your best deal/favorite find story?
LDW: My best find was the 4 autographed Conan Pops from SDCC 2015.
PPG: What line are you most excited about that is yet to be released and why?
LDW: I’m excited for the Smurfs Pops. I loved watching that show when I was younger.
PPG: If you could have a custom Pop made of anyone, real or fictional, what would it be?
LDW: It would be cool to have a custom Pop of myself. I would also like to see some Saturday Night Live Pops.
PPG: Any advice for new collectors or something you wish you knew when you started collecting? Words of wisdom?
LDW: Don’t overpay for newly released Pops. Other than numbered Pops it is pretty easy to get any new releases at retail cost. Know where you will get the best deals, stay away from stores that charge more than $9.99 for new Pops.
PPG: What made you decide to set up your shop, LDW Collectibles?
LDW: I really enjoyed collecting Pops with my girlfriend and meeting fellow collectors. I had been wanting to start my own business and I decided selling Funko products was the way to go.
Big thanks to Louis for the interview! And don’t forget to check out LDW Collectibles’ inventory in the PPG Marketplace.
