Hello fellow Funko addicts my name is Adam Ellefson. I’m a funkler from southern Minnesota but spent most of my life in Tucson Arizona. My Funko addiction started in about 2009 with a couple Funko Forces yet I didn’t get the extreme itch until November 2015 when I picked up a John Bender from my local Toys R Us and from there it began. I currently have over 900 Funko items in my collection and have turned my whole household into Funko addicts along with several others. I’ve been a collector of everything from Hotwheels,UB Funkeys any and all action figures and sports cards but found my true calling in Funkos as I can collect so many childhood memories and lots of great movies and game franchises thanks to Funko.
1. How long have you been collecting Funko products?
I had a few for years but started full on collecting in November 2015 after getting a John Bender at Toys R Us and then numerous Black Friday Gamestop mystery boxes.
2. What was your first Funko item?
Funko Force Carol from Where The Wild Things Are on sale at Blockbuster in late 08 early 09. I bought three that day 1 for me, 1 for my daughter and 1 for my younger sister.
3. How many Funko collectibles do you own?
Over 900 in my own collection. But over 1150 throughout my house as I got the rest of my family addicted.
4. Do you have a favorite line Or a line you would like to see?
It seems to be Deadpool as I have almost all of his variants but ultimately Funko Force is my favorite line as they were so much more detailed with the full view boxing and less produced.
5. What are your favorite Top 5 “Must Own” items in your collection?
My GITD Harrison Comics Ghostrider, GITD Hot Topic La Muerte, Proto Santa Clause Wobbler,10″ GITD Batman vinyl, and my Atom Ant Funko Force.
6. What is your best deal/favorite find story?
It’s a huge toss up between my signed James O’ Barr The Crow Funko pop with signed print I won in a Funko group for .10 cents and my Zur-En-Arrh Batmam I found for retail in a Target.
7. What line are you most excited about that is yet to be released?
I’m beyond excited for the 90’s Nick series as I grew up on all the cartoons. I remember when Nicktoons first started with all the classics.
8. Do you complete sets with every variant or are you happy to just own certain Pops in a Line?
Genuinely I try collecting complete sets with all variants, but as I collect so many lines it gets very hard for me to do so.
9. Favorite Social Networking group/site for News,Buying,Trading or Selling?
Pop Price Guide is my favorite as I’m on it numerous times a day. Besides that I moderate a group called Funko Freaks and Various Vinyl Collectibles that has introduced me to so many great Funko friends. We have a group chat and they are so helpful. Also my local group Minnesota Funko Pop Collectors are beyond amazing and humble collectors who help everyone even if they don’t know them and hold Bi Monthy Pop trading get togethers.
10. Do you collect any other types of collectibles?
Too many to list I collect everything but my favorites that started my Funko addiction would be Hotwheels, sports cards, pogs, various lines of figurines, Skylanders, UB Funkeys, weapons and psychopathic records items.
11.If you could design a Line OR add Variants to an existing Line what would you create?
More Nickelodeon items such as Hey Dude, Salute your shorts, Goosebumps and Rocko’s Modern Life. I’d also love to see Dukes of Hazzard,we will never see that line. And Snorks and Paw Paw Bears.
12. You win a contest for one single random Pop. What is the one Pop you would dread to see when you opened the box and why?
Most would say Olaf but me as I collect not just for myself but my kids would not be upset I guess the only thing I’d dread seeing is a pop I already have a duplicate of. lol.
13. Any advice for new collectors OR Something you wish you knew when you started collecting? Words of wisdom?
Don’t be compulsive like me. Start off small collecting lines versus being every which way collecting it all. Do not collect just for value, and most importantly don’t pay $50 plus for a new release just because you want it that badly. If you cant find it give it a month or two and the price will go down to a reasonable price all your doing is supporting the non collectors to flip what we love for profit.
